Compassionate online counseling for substance abuse recovery

Substance Abuse Counseling in North Carolina

Substance abuse doesn’t have to control your life.

Are you tired of feeling tired and sick? Maybe you’re tired of hearing your loved ones talk about their concerns for you once again OR maybe you have been hiding this secret for so long you’re not sure how to face it. Being in active addiction can feel so isolating, but you are here, on a therapy website to find someone that gets you. To find someone that can help end this cycle.

Let me help.

You’ve been able to keep your job, maybe maintain your relationship, keep up the picture of a good life but you feel like it could all crumble at any minute. Maybe you’ve even stopped using or cut back significantly but it feels like you’re on shaky ground and you could fall right back into past habits if you don’t find some help.

If something doesn’t change soon you’re not sure what you could lose, but you know what’s at stake: your relationship, your livelihood, your well-being, maybe even your life.

how it works

Addiction Recovery is possible and you don’t have to figure it out alone!

1. Defining what you want recovery to look like

I believe recovery is unique to everyone, so the first step in your treatment  will be determining what changes YOU want to make and what fits best with your lifestyle, relationships and overall wellness.

2. Coping skills

Next, we’ll make sure you feel like you have several choices to deal with cravings, negative feelings and times when you may have turned to substances to cope. Maybe there’s something that’s been missing that substances have been trying to fill.

3. Validate & heal

Through our work, it is possible to gain confidence into a habit that has left you feeling defeated and out of control. Counseling with me will help you validate these difficulties and dig deeper into some unhelpful patterns of thought and behavior that may have fueled substance use.

Motivational Interviewing for Substance Abuse Recovery

I have extensive training in motivational interviewing, experience working with hundreds of people in addiction across various levels of care and I know how to help you! Substance abuse looks different for everyone so your treatment should look unique to your needs and lifestyle. You can feel empowered to have the kind of recovery that works for you.

Things we can address together:

  • Substance abuse and how it got to this point

  • Identifying what you want recovery to look like, it’s okay if its nontraditional or not “what everyone else is doing”

  • The impact substance use has had on various areas of your life

  • Improving your sense of self and your confidence to handle this problem (hint: you got this!)

  • Reconnecting to the things in your life that bring you joy (or maybe discovering them for the first time)

Change can feel scary, recovery doesn’t have to.
